Florida’s governor, Charlie Crist, launched a program in 2007 named, The Governor’s Fitness Challenge. The program was based on recommendations from the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness for elementery and middle schools through out the state of Florida.

Since its inception more than 245,000 students in over 500 elementary and middle schools have participated. Schools have the chance to win rewards and recognition. In 2009 eight schools won $5,000 each and seven schools won $2,500 each.

Each year Full Press has been asked to print T-shirts which are distributed to the winners as added recognition. This year was no exception as we printed 1500 shirts for the organizers of the Fitness Challenge.

Recently we received a glowing review from the Executive Assistant to the President and Office Manager of Florida’s Foundation, Frances Rhodes. She wrote, “We wouldn’t trust our tee shirt needs to anyone else!!”

Thank you, Frances for that vote of confidence as all of us at Full Press look forward to promoting fitness with you!

The mission of the nonprofit organization, Florida’s Foundation is to strengthen Florida by making positive changes in the lives of Florida’s families through initiatives developed under the leadership of the State of Florida and its citizens.

Full Press applauds all their efforts and wholeheartedly supports their list of worthy causes. For more information about the organization please visit their website: www.floridasfoundation.org. For more information about the Fitness Challenge please visit: www.governorsfitnesschallenge.com.

Researching through volumes of articles, books and Internet marketing sites, it is amazing the number of times promotional T-shirts are mentioned as a cost effective marketing tool. One search engine listed over a million results. Staggering.

Of course being in the business of producing custom shirts, we wholeheartedly believe in the value of our product for our customers. However, it is exciting to hear positive reinforcement from a variety of outside sources.

What our research uncovered:

-T-shirts are visible

-T-shirts are a popular clothing item

-T-shirts draw attention to your marketing message

-T-shirts reinforce brand color and design

-T-shirts communicate in a conversational way

-T-shirts invite social interaction

-T-shirts carry with them a personal endorsement

-T-shirts are memorable

-T-shirts become a moving billboard

-T-shirts provide repeated exposure

-T-shirts for groups provide a sense of belonging

-T-shirts are cost effective compared to other mediums

What about your marketing efforts? Did using T-shirts help get the word out for your company or event? If you have a success story using T-shirts, please share. We’d love to hear your particular experience.

All of us in the Gulf Coast region are increasingly alarmed at the news reports about the BP oil spill. It is only natural to have a tumult of emotions that grip us daily as we watch the tragic scenes unfold. We experience fear, anger and a feeling of powerlessness. However, if we just stand back in horror and talk, then the frustration levels increase. We all need to be engaged in a solution even if it is only a small part of the big picture.

What can an individual or a company like Full Press do to help the situation? Well, here’s some good news!

Concerned musicians and Tallahassee-ians to the rescue: Nashville recording artist STEVE AZAR, CMT Nashville artist ERIC DURRANCE with Tobacco Road, Nashville recording artist JASON BYRD, plus TALLAHASSEE AREA favorites BOYD & WOOD, TOM & THE CATS as well as DREW TILLMAN are all scheduled to appear IN CONCERT to benefit communities impacted by the disaster.

This charitable concert is being held July 31 at The Moon in Tallahassee, Florida and will feature national country acts and local bands with 100 percent of the ticket sale proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross Capital Area Chapter.

“The ACOUSTIC FOR THE COAST BENEFIT CONCERT is our way of uniting and showing our friends, families and fellow Americans that we care about their struggles and want to do what we can to help them recover,” said recording artist and concert coordinator Boyd Mangum.

The cost for admission will be $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the show with the concert starting at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are available at www.MOONEVENTS.com.

Full Press will be printing the concert t-shirts and tank tops for sale at the event as an additional fund-raiser.
A silent auction with memorabilia and autographed items will also be up for bid from national recording artists.

“We want those Americans impacted by this devastating spill to know that they are not alone and that we’ll get through this together,” said concert co-coordinator and 94.9 TNT radio personality ‘Big Woody’ Hayes. “Americans are at our best in times of crisis, and we hope this event will go a long way toward helping those families in the most desperate need of help.”

“We are glad to help, remarked Full Press owner, Danny Shrine. “We want to do as much as we can to support any and all recovery efforts. We will continue to be proactive with our hands and hearts fully engaged.”

The event is sponsored in part by KIA AUTOSPORT OF TALLAHASSEE, WCTV, FULL PRESS APPAREL, THE MOON and Tallahassee’s Best Country 94.9 TNT.

Following women’s fashions is a fun exercise. Don’t you think? Styles recycle. The ones that stay around for awhile seem to re-invent themselves each year with a new twist as designers constantly stretch to be innovative, eco-friendly and more conscious of the diverse voices of increasingly empowered women.

Pantone Fashion Color Report for Fall 2010 as announced each year during the New York Fashion Week listed the top 10 color choices. Endive, Golden Glow, Living Coral, Lipstick Red, Purple Orchid, Chocolate Truffle, Lagoon, Woodbine, Oyster Gray and Rose Dust.

If the trend-watcher websites are correct T-shirts will abound in these colors!

“Variety, comfort and surprisingly unique custom prints are a trend to watch,” the fashion gurus say as fine artists express their creativity through T-shirts especially in the UK. Limited edition prints are are all the buzz! (As if they invented custom shirts…we don’t think so!)

“As fashion progresses, comfort and versatility gain even more and more ground. T-shirts are a real style statement for many years and nowadays they are one of the most popular items of women’s clothing.” This quote from a popular fashion trend website: www.fashion-style.becomegorgeous.com.

So where does the Full Press custom designed T-shirt fit in the mix of fabric, color and style trends? Right on target. Our staff follows the trends both public and underground; however, we like to be independent thinkers and keep an open mind to something new the experts have over-looked or haven’t thought of yet. We listen to our customer’s ideas and try to merge all these bits of knowledge twirling about in our heads plus add a few of our own quirky, sometimes ingenious thoughts to come up with a Tallahassee original.

Now hear this, Fashion World: We’re coming up with some good stuff.
